There are plenty of advantages to choosing a PC for your Fortnite adventures. What PC do I need?

Playing Fortnite on pc

Whether you’re buying a pre-made computer, a laptop or building your own beastly machine, it’s important to know what are the system requirements to run Fortnite.

The good news is that it’s not a very demanding game.

If the reason you’re looking to get a new computer is exclusively for Fortnite, then you could easily build one for a very low price that can rival even current-gen consoles.

Minimum requirements pc

The minimum requirements for running Fortnite on PC aren’t going to give you the best graphics and frame rate. You’ll at least be able to play the game in a respectably playable state.

Since the game isn’t quite heavy, it’s better to buy or build a PC with the recommended requirements in mind.

If, however, you’re using a machine you already own and it’s quite old or one meant for work or school, this list of specs should give you an idea if it will run Fortnite or not.

  • CPU: Core i3-3225 3.3 GHz
  • RAM: 4 GB RAM
  • Video card: Intel HD 4000 on PC or Intel Iris Pro 5200 or equivalent AMD GPU
  • Operating System: Windows 7/8/10 at 64-bit

An important note for Mac users is that the game no longer supports Nvidia cards.

As you can see, the minimum specifications aren’t anything to write home about.

The pretty stands true for the game’s recommended requirements as well. Buying or building a PC with these specs in mind shouldn’t make a big dent in your wallet.

You should keep in mind that this isn’t a ceiling of requirements. Going higher doesn’t hurt and can net you a PC that will run other, more demanding titles besides Fortnite.

  • CPU: Core i5-7300U 3.5 GHz
  • RAM: 8 GB RAM
  • Video card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 or AMD Radeon HD 7870 or equivalent DX11 GPU
  • Operating System: Windows 7/8/10 at 64-bit

Final Word

One thing to note is that a lot of these specs are quite outdated when compared to the current PC market.

Most pre-made builds will come with Intel processors of a higher generation.

On top of that, it’s quickly becoming standard for PCs to come with at least 6-8 GB of RAM at competitive prices. Graphics cards are also becoming cheaper as newer ones are hitting the market.
